In all the classes I teach--at the
Worcester Art Museum, the DeCordova Museum of Art, and Framingham State
College--I have the privilege of introducing and demonstrating a variety of
visual mediums to my students. On the Provence trip, I also focus a
lesson on landscape technique for each day for those who wish to follow it.
Since I greatly encourage experimentation and individuality, I'm ready to
guide each student's vision if needed, but my main goal is to stimulate and
inspire all my students while we all learn, grow, and have fun!
Secondly, as an
artist, I am also there to work alongside everyone to enjoy and interpret in
my own way the charming villages and towns and beautiful scenery we are all
sharing. |
Artwork is, after all, about human
experience . . . all
experience, and in my classes I always encourage the diversity of each
person's response to the subject, infusing into the work not only an
understanding of basic structure and technique, but emotional, thoughtful,
and personal response to our subject at hand.
There is no incorrect color or aesthetic approach to the landscape, and
if there were there would be no Rembrandt, Corot, Roualt, Cezanne, Monet,
Vlaminck, Dufy, Soutine, Van Gogh, Picasso, Hockney, et. al.
