| Aix is a small, but very cosmopolitan beautiful old
town full of fountains, markets, schools, shops, outdoor cafes, restaurants (and
too many cars and mopeds, which is why I want to stay close, but outside of it).
Aix contains numerous artistic sites such as Cézanne’s atelier, The Vasarely Foundation,
The Musée Granet, as well
as the Château Noir and Mount Sainte-Victoire, both made famous many times
over by Cézanne’s paintings. |

However, it is the whole area, rich in history and
artistic tradition, that is bordered by Mont Ventoux to the north, the Var to the east, the Rhône to the
west, and the Mediterranean to the south that makes up this beautiful, varied
topography of mountains, valleys, beaches, hill towns, vineyards, and colorful
fields. |
| All
within a day’s outing (days off) are possible excursions to:

In most cases we will use our kitchenettes to
pack a picnic lunch. At some sites, we may want to try out local cafés. |
