List of Possible Painting Sites

1.  Aix-en-Provence—at the Pavillon Vendome and Gardens and to visit the fountains of Aix and the colorful flower, fruit, and vegetable markets for fixings for a pot-luck dinner together the first night.

2.  L’Isle Sur La Sorgue and Fontaine de Vaucluse-  two lovely towns at the source of and built around the Sorgue River.

3.  Le Puy Sainte Réparade—a very special “Private Chateau” with beautiful grounds, gardens, animals (turkeys, donkeys, chickens), and buildings where we will spend the day.

4.  Château Noir (where Cézanne lived and worked for eleven years; closed to the public but my friend lives there), and to paint nearby at the Moulin in Tholonet.

5.  Ventabren—an exquisite tiny ancient hill town.

6.  Lourmarin and Cucuron—of the Luberon Mountains in the region of the Vaucluse.  These two very special villages include some sources of my personal inspiration—a small gardener’s hut behind the castle in Lourmarin and a beautiful reflecting pool in the town square of Cucuron.

7.  Cassis—the charming seaside town on the Mediterranean (also, take time for everyone to go on boat rides through the Calanques, deep rocky inlets in and around the gorges).

8.  LaCoste—the beautiful hilltop village (ruins of the Marquis de Sade’s castle) or Bonnieux (formerly a papal estate).

9.  St. Rémy de Provence—the sanitarium where Van Gogh lived and worked for two years.  (Here we can work right inside the court yard, perhaps even in Vincent’s room!)

10.  Barage de Bimont—a stunning turquoise green reservoir surrounded by mountains and big sky and a visit to Vauvenargue  (Picasso’s last chateau home and where he is buried).

11.  Marseille—a bustling beautiful city where we’ll focus on the lovely old harbor (with a possible excursion to L’Isle D’If by boat).

12.  Bastide du Roy Rene—still lifes on tables at our beautiful hotel or finishing up work.
