I use interiors and landscapes to explore the domestic and natural worlds.
These universally recognized images allow me to explore the beautiful and
the frightening, the fortunate and the unfortunate, the witty, whimsical,
and the serious.
In addition, making art is my way of paying
homage to those artists throughout history who have touched my life, some
since early childhood.
These influences (Matisse, Dubuffet, Derain,
Vlaminck, Dufy, Chagall, Vuillard, de Saint Phalle, and
Hockney to name a
few) continually help me to evolve within my own subject matter, mediums,
and concerns.
Even after thirty years, making
art (regardless of medium) marks each day with importance.
